movie: Changing times
slavezombie
A French film released in 2004 about an architect who decides to pursue his first love after not having seen her for thirty years. Those French talk really fast and I barely had enough time to get through the subtitles. I don't know if I liked it yet. I'll have to watch it again, then over and over, until I copy the dialog verbatim on my laptop computer. If you're wondering why I would do such a silly thing, it's because I have to wait until June 2008 for An American crime to be released on DVD. Maybe, just maybe, February 2008 will show it's theatrical release, but don't believe everything I read.

I find the French tend to drawl phegmatically. Spanish is much faster! Since it's your mother tongue you probably don't notice , pero para mí es como un comentario a las carreras de caballos.Speedy Gonzales didn't get the name for nothing.

I'm not a fast talker, especially in Spanish. One thing I notice is when I watch the news in Spanish on TV, the only thing I can muster from the reports is "taka taka taka taka."

It's my impression that the French language must be the inventor of the contraction, because whenever I see words like hor d'ourve, bourgeois (the extent of my vocabulary) I wonder where those silent constonants disappear to; then I compare words like rock 'n roll and ain't to the formal way they became widely used (rock and roll, and isn't).

There is something about the French language that makes me believe that it is the language of love. Or, perhaps growing up in an English speaking country, when my first language was Spanish, makes for an unappealing sound in my preferred language. I never gave it much thought that cities named Los Angeles, El Monte, etc. could give rise to the belief some Hispanics have that they are the true natural citizens and the gringos are the immigrants.

J'aime beaucoup le français. On parle très lentement. Les Français sont très sympathiques.
Yes,the gringos stole America from the Spanish, who stole it from the Native Americans.
