favicon.ico files

It must be the research skills I'm lacking, but spireproject.com seems to be pretty out dated too. I'm not going to check how long converticon.com has been around, but if I had that site a few months ago, I wouldn't be in this quizzical mood. Now I have to dig up the HTML chapter in some HTML book that explains just how to get my own icon to appear next to my home page.

I'm sure it's a simple task, as I remembered the instructions to be so simple, a disturbed teenager could handle it. See www.favicon.com and then visit any ol` website with a custom icon (anything other than the icon used by the web browser) and look at the first few lines of the source code for that web page. You should see something like this:

< link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="/favicon.ico"/ >

And that, in a nuthshell, is how you customize the "favorites/bookmarks" icon.
