Next year will be the last year of the Aztec calendar system
It feels like something should be done in appreciation to the calendar system as we know it. Although our calendar system has never adapted the Aztec one, it seems the similarities lay in the manner which scholars have evaluated it's accuracy. The Aztec way of calculating time was better than the Gregorian calendar we use today, if you consider the way the migration between changing systems from Julian calendar to Gregorian back in the 1700's robbed people and businesses of eleven days.

I always held that calendars are fascinating myself. I owned a telephone back in the 80'a that contain small little business size cards containing calendars that could be re-used depending on the year and the size of the month. When I saw this article on changing the calendar system, that's the first thing I thought about. You can see my previous posts on the subject by browsing the tag " calendar " in this blog.

I've always believed that if the calendar were to ever be altered, an additional weekend should be added. We can call that day Ophday, a play on words for the new constellation astrologers are calling the 13th zodiac sign, ophiuchus. Whatever is decided, I hope business minded people are left out of the decision making process, a there's no doubt in my mind that they would vote to add another weekday.

day 33

This feisty critter is going to be an adventure to raise. I only have so much time to handle her and try to get her accustom to a leash. Mildred is her name and she won't have anything to do with it.
I'm concerned about what I'm getting myself into. I already made a few searches on the library database for books on building a larger cage. Petco sells them for about $200. I think if I had the plans to guide me, I can put together a decent cage made of wood. I only wish I could build it the ikea way, so that it can be dismantled just as easily.

I don't know for sure whether Mildred is female yet. Time will tell. I'm hoping that she turns out to be male only because they grow a bigger crest. But when I consider the aggressive nature of the makes during breeding season, I recant that desire and hope that I named her properly. I guess if I do find out Mildred is a dude, I'll switch her name to Emil. That's a nice, though not very herpey, male name. Plus, if pronounced oddly, could be mistaken for emo, and who wants to be called something like that?
