Haircut 100
slavezombie
I just paid my credit card statement today (i've been anxiously awaiting it.) The itemized charges look like this
  1. www.yoropen.co.uk
  2. Shag hair design
I don't want to be a punk, but line item (b) is exactly how I made out my personal check to the hair salon. Of course I have no witnesses other than the hard evidence (which I may upload later on). I don't really want to be accuse of defaming, so I'm just writing this to detract an earlier reply I made back on June 11 at los_angeles.
Recently, the last half of May to be precise, I remember seeing segments on the local news about store fronts that run underground sex-slave brothels. I've also seen reports about gas stations with pumps that short change their customers. I wonder if the hairstylist who worked on my hair wasn't trying to signal me about other services which Shag dabbles in, on the side of course. Already, I can visualize myself all in a huff about my treatment, or lack there of, when it came time to settle the bill. A complaint letter might sound like this: Dear Sir or Madam, blah blah blah. And what follows is a word for word account of my treatment which I expected less from Supercuts and Fantastic Sams.
ME
Can I pay with a check?

HER
YES… $25.00

SFX: BOOM-PAZ
ME
That was fast, huh?

HER
Oh, you know what. Can you make that out to my name?

ME
Ohh? Is it easier if I just pay with a credit card?

HER
Sure

ME
Why is it necessary to write it all out to you personally?

HER
Because we all charge different here?

ME
So my cut was $25.00 and they assigned me to you becuz of that?

HER
No, I was just available at that time.

ME
So anybody else might’ve charged me a different amount?

HER
Yes

Here's a copy, and I only do this because it is a bigger decision that involves entrusting one's hair to people with sharp instruments. The dialog mentioned previous is not very clear because I left out direction. I had to wait 40 to 45 minutes before they'd see me and by then I had already asked the receptionist what it would cost. I drew up the check before asking if they'd accept it.
It's true, the subtle hints are vague, in that this place may well be a fully functional prostitution ring. After my cut, I meet the stylist at the register. I should note that my check was previously made out to the payee for the amount shown on the scans. That's where the SOUND EFFECTS: BOOM-PAZ is referring to. In other words, I didn't write out the check in front of her, and this results in my comment of how fast I write my checks, unless she mistook that as how fast Shag trims hair. In any case, the dialog speaks for itself. I didn't have to pay tax.
I could be wrong, but it's clear that the stylist ringing me up was intent on being paid the amount of $25.00 payable to her full name (business card image withheld to protect the innocent). So, in the back of my mind I`m saying to myself, this is going to be a good trick when I see on my credit card bill that I charged an expense for services rendered by Ms. Joe Blow. I could be wrong and Shag may specialize in cuts for people who resemble Shaggy from Scooby-doo, but exit shag clean shaven.
