I called somebody from my past last night. I realized my LAN line was blocked from that number, so used another phone. I got somebody`s female voice saying the party intended was sleeping. I asked to leave a message that I called and hung up.

Now I realize the film Sideways, when Miles calls his ex Victoria from a phone booth in a restaurant once he`s good and drunk, has something to say on technique. What I mean is, I`m not one to take a hint lightly and if my cell phone gets blocked from the number which is my only means of contacting with somebody from years and years ago, then I can use several of the lines at work, and after those run out, payphones at various establishments (preferably that sell wine). Wine, not because it was in the film, but because a glass per day may do a person`s heart some good. Especially someone like me.

I didn`t expect to see who I saw today. I just got back from "Expodition" branch library, (and I plan to cover most of the 72 libraries that are in and around Los Angeles every time I get a day off like today). After having removed my goatee last week, and getting an overdue haircut, I was confident that nobody would recognize me loitering around the library with one eye on my book, and the other at the staff. The moment I walk in, I see Melvin and Tracy. So I wave, although I`m pretty sure I could`ve walked on by without notice.

Why did I shave off my evil mustache? It`s punishment I`m inflicting on myself for playing dumb on the 13th Jul when AE actually walks in TO MY BRANCH and checks out some childrens` books.

Tracy hardly acknowledged my presence. Melvin and I chatted about his new job as clerk there, the increase in salary, hours, responsibility, etc. Then I opened up to him and explained the real reason I was there (at a library, like I don`t have enough library in my life Monday thru Saturday). Fortunately, he saved me a good deal of time by letting me know AE doesn`t work there. I was ready to hang out until 8p when they start kicking people out.

You`re vote of approval means the world to me, Beth. Anyway, I`m scouting out restaurants in and around L.A. for the soul purpose of finding comfortable telephone boothes with a menu that stays open late. Usually I`m not out as late as I wanna be for these calls unless I`m at a concert. So, my choice of localities may not be the most extravant places to eat, but the music might be worthwhile. I guess it`s as good a subject to write about here as any. I`m hoping other heartbroken peeps might find it interesting to keep up to date on this 20+ yr ongoing saga.
